Webinar: Supporting Apprenticeship Completions: Lessons for Literacy Service Providers

Work in the skilled trades provides good and well-paying jobs; yet weak literacy skills, educational gaps and insufficient work experience too often contribute to candidates not completing their apprenticeship qualifications. This is particularly prominent among those challenging the Certificate of Qualification, issued to a candidate who has successfully completed an apprenticeship program and has attained the prescribed pass mark on the certification examination to qualify as a journeyperson in that trade.

Findings from a recently completed project in Northern Ontario suggest that not only can access to apprenticeship be improved, but literacy service providers can also make a difference for apprentices hoping to successfully challenge their qualifying exams.

Join Essential Skills Ontario Thursday, April 11 at 1:00PM ET for our free webinar, Supporting Apprenticeship Completions: Lessons for Literacy Service Providers, hosted by Stewart Kallio of Kallio Consulting and Project Coordinator of the Mid North Network for the Coordination of Adult Literacy's Supporting Apprenticeship Completions project.
