Partnership Framework for Integrated Family Literacy Planning presents the preliminary findings for the research component of the Partnership Framework for Integrated Family Literacy Planning project. The project was led by Essential Skills Ontario and funded by the Office of Literacy and Essential Skills (OLES) of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).
There is a growing consensus in the field of literacy that family literacy programs are innovative and effective tools for addressing various social issues such as drop-out rates and joblessness, as well as literacy issues in and of themselves. However, despite the proven importance of family literacy, several research studies conducted by Essential Skills Ontario reveals that family literacy in Ontario lacks consistent funding and a cohesive policy.
