Essential Skills Ontario Partners with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for OBAA Skills and Training Award

Every year, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) hosts the Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) – the most recognized industry gala in the province that awards business for their achievements in areas including innovation, market expansion, exports and corporate citizenship.

This year, Essential Skills Ontario is partnering with the OCC to present the Skills and Training Award - presented to the business whose skills and training initiatives best harness the talent of its people, embraces diversity and supports employee success. As an organization that works find innovative and effective training solutions to provide low-skilled adults with the skills they need in today’s rapidly-changing world, Essential Skills Ontario is honoured to be sponsoring this award.

Nominees for the award were Bombardier Aerospace and Voyageur Transportation Services. Lesley Brown, Executive Director of Essential Skills Ontario, was pleased to present the award to Bombardier for their investment in the future of aircraft design and assembly in Ontario by focusing on skills training. The aerospace industry is poised to grow significantly, and will be successful if it can continue to attract new employees as well as manage the impact of an aging workforce.
